Species Standards
Prefered Habitat: Temperate to cold forest regions, such as snowy pine forests of the northern lands...
There are a few breed differences as to their particular habitats, but for the most part they're all the same.
Diet: Strictly carniverous.. Will eat any animal that is easy or small enough to catch.
Call: This creature makes all the standard noises of large cats.
Special Care Needs: Sadly, this creature doesn't need much from a person - as it's rather independent.
Once can assume a special need would be that it is rather difficult to build up a bond of loyalty (as it is for
most cats). Be cautious of their over-sized fangs!
Biology and Anatomy: Every feature on this massive feline is designed to help it dominate. From the
massive fangs that protrude over it's front lip to the thick and heavy tail that trails behind it, these creatures
have a design that leaves them ready to kill. Their senses of hearing, sight, and smell are all incredibly
strong. Despite the fact that they can stand shoulder to shoulder with an average-sized man, they can stalk
silently through their forest home and go un-noticed by even the cleverest of prey. If their massive bodies
don't immediately take down anything they decide to pounce on, their four sets of razor sharp claws or huge
fangs will do the trick. A well aimed bite from an estharne can easily go past scales, fur, or muscle and
snap a bone in two. Their pelts are perfectly designed to help them blend into their environment as well as
keep their temperature at a stable level. And those giant tails? Well, besides keeping their bodies or young
warm on chilly nights, those tails are the only thing strong enough to twist the spine so an estharne can
always land in its feet.
Behavioral Study: Extremely curious creatures, they tend to be rather intelligent, and figure things out rather
quickly. However, this also causes them to get into quite a bit of trouble and they often find themselves in
situations that are rather difficult to get out of. Although they are indipendent by nature, IF a bond can be
made with it's owner, it will stay with them for life. As much as one can talk about the behavior of these
creatures, they WERE designed after cats, and thus - the element of chaos is placed within' them.. Imagine
everything you know about your average house cat, and then make it to be the size of a tiger when full
grown...
Suggested Uses: It is suggested that these creatures be mostly used for the Fighting Pit, although, they
can be (according to some owners) very loyal and loving pets... I personally however, dissagree.
Fender: The Fender breed was the first designed, and the most common. It is well suited to it's northern
forest home, and it's beautiful pelt blends in with the light filtering down through the trees, giving it
particularly good stealth in the shadows. The moss beneath their feet rarely makes a noise as they stalk
their prey, and their lives are fairly active; beware the Fender Estharne when hiking through the wilderness.
Jabberwok: The Jabberwok breed was designed for an area slightly more north of the more common
Fender breed, where it always seems to be covered in snow, save for those few days in the summer.
Higher in the mountains, where dew freezes to the pines, this is where the Jabber prefers to find it's home.
They are rarely found, but when they are it is usually in ice-hidden caverns on the side of a pine-covered
mountain.
Taro: The Taro was the third breed of Estharne v.2 created, and by far the most rare just due to the quantity
of Taros produced. They have the same habbits of a Fender, but they have no issues of coming south to
where the leaves are more broad, and fall off during the winter. They do not however, venture so far south
that the air becomes too hot for their thick fur to handle.

Forge The forge breed was made due to the popularity of the Hellcat, and the demands of local blacksmiths. Knowing now that Hellcats are usually too violent to keep as even the most savage of pets, the labs decided to "tame down" the Hellcat's charm when making the Forge breed. It has all the habits and general personality of a normal Estharne, but it has the happy ability to be immune to problems with heat.. and even fire itself. Indeed, the Forge is the best choice for not only venturing into hotter climates, but also for people who work somewhere that its hot all the time (like by a forge).

Licorice The Licorice is one of the two Estharne breeds that can actually fly! It is the noctournal variety, usually awake and active during the night - and it's rambunctious nature often gets it into trouble (as can be noted by the scratches it can carry). If your Licorice gets a cut, please take care of it quickly, or (like with any animal) it will leave an unsightly scar.
|
Peppymint The Peppymint is one of the two Estharne breeds that can actually fly! It is the daytime variety, usually awake and active during the day - it's fairly active; but much more cautious than it's Licorice cousin; and would much rather be content to sleep by the fire... or, perhaps.. explore the chimney - what IS up there, anyway? Curiosity killed the -... er... nevermind.
