Species Standards
Prefered Habitat: This species is rather versitile, and can live in many climates from tundra to near tropical.
It's prefered habitat is open plains and sparing woods (jungles are too dense for them). When breeding,
they dig burrows underground that resemble the dens of any wild canine-like creature.
Diet: Strictly carniverous... This creature hunts in packs of other Vulticus to take down large prey.
Call: These creatures make all the noises your typical dog (or wolf) makes... Ranging from wimpers and
whines, to barks and growls, all the way to howls.
Special Care Needs: One of the easiest creatures to care for at MML, it requires no special treatment
beyond what you would give your house-hold family pet dog.
Biology and Anatomy: Having the frame of the everyday 'Canine', these mutts range from 'Cute and Fluffy' to
'Hostile and Frightning'. Like normal dogs/wolfs, the different breeds differ in appearance. Long tails,
pointed ears, and 'small' claws, these creatures seem to appeal to all kinds of people, who wouldn't love a
loyal creature of their own? Like all mammals, hair((fur)) covers some part of the body, for Vulticus's it's the
entire frame. The coat color, and length depends on the breed, red and white to brown and black. Most
Vulticus have a normal body build, with long legs to help carry them quickly, to wherever they're desired
destination may be. Sharp pointed canine fangs are hidden behind slender maws, but can easily lash out
and take a chunk of flesh from the target. Hearing and sense of smell are much better then other creatures
in the MML labs, yet some have poor eyesight. All of the breeds, tend to all have one trait in common, that
being 'Having someone in command and or a companion'. No one likes to be alone, and these 'monsters'
love to have someone to 'call their own'.
Behavioral Study: Vulticus seem to prefer to live in packs, with the leader making all of the rules.. if you are
the "pack leader", then you'll find it rather easy to train your vulticus.. there are a few exceptions however..
please refer to the "breed differences"...
Suggested Uses: From family pet, to guardian, to fighting pit champion... The limits are almost endless
with this species...

Grey: The Grey is one of the standard breeds of Vulticus - it has no special qualities that set it appart from
the species standards.
Brown: The Brown is similar to the Grey in that it has no special qualities... In fact, the only difference
between the Grey and Brown is coloration alone.
Cave: The Cave breed was designed to be more agressive, and will also be the only Vulticus that will grow
large enough to possibly carry a rider - after all, they grow twice the size of a normal vulticus!! Although the
Cave breed can live in the normal sized burrows that the other Vulticus reside in, it prefers to live in larger
caves instead. The Cave breed is most often used to be a "guard dog" or even a "mount". They also seem to
be stubborn in the fact that they prefer to not have any vulticus in their "pack" asside from other cave
breeds... So be cautious when introducing new vulticus. They also have rather dim vision, so you should
always make enough noise to let them identify you when approaching them.
Domestic: The Domestic breed was designed to be a family pet and is obedient to the point of stupidity - it
aims to please it's "master". It is the easiest of the Vulticus to train, but is usually not skilled at hunting prey
on it's own. It is also not suited for outdoor life, and is in need of constant care - for it cannot survive on it's
own out in the wild. The Domestic breed is also most easily trusted with small children. Because of their
"love-ability" however, and their constant desire to play, they were all adopted out by adulthood.
Vulpine: The Vulpine breed is the smallest (only half the size of the other Vulticus), and because of this can
only hunt the smaller game. The Vulpine breed seems to lack most of the "pack instincts" that the rest of the
Vulticus have, and thus they tend to have weaker bonds with their owners - more independent, it has a
tendancy to "nip". The Vulpine breed also makes more of a "yapping" noise, than the regular "barks" that the
rest of the species makes. Because of their small size (and beautiful fur), most people tend to use the
Vulpine breed as nothing more than a "lap dog"... Also, because of it's small size and beautiful fur, the
Vulpine breed was snatched up so quickly in the labs that they are no longer available for adoption.
